2009 FPSO for West Africa

Ship Security Assessment (SSA) and Ship Security Plan (SSP)

Scenario:

A Nigerian RSO required the technical knowledge and experience to undertake an SSA/SSP on a vessel being converted in Singapore for use in Nigeria.

Threat:

Due to instability in the Niger Delta the SSA/SSP whilst meeting the requirements of the ISPS Code also needed to address security problems related to the FPSO’s projected area of operation.

Conclusion:

IMSA Ltd through its Associates’ extensive experience in Nigeria, undertaking commercial and Government-related ISPS Code tasks, was contracted to undertake the SSA/SSP. The SSP was subsequently approved by the flag state and the FPSO is now operational off Nigeria.
